The paper focuses on path dependency in emergency department physicians' decision-making processes. It reveals a positive correlation between the treatment decisions made by physicians for current patients and those made for previous patients. The study indicates that this positive autocorrelation is more pronounced when there is greater uncertainty in the medical condition of the current patient, when observed characteristics are more similar to previous patients, and when physicians have less experience or are experiencing higher levels of fatigue.
