On October 16, 2023, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, President of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and President of Peking Union Medical College, Academician Wang Chen, along with Executive Dean Yang Weizhong of the School of Public Administration at Peking Union Medical College, Professor Li Zhongjie from the School of Public Administration at Peking Union Medical College, Professor Chen Simiao from the School of Public Administration at Peking Union Medical College, and Deputy Director Wang Zhuoran from the Planning and Development Department of Peking Union Medical College visited the Peking University Institute for Global Health and Development (IGHD PKU). Professor Liu Guoen, the director of IGHD and a Changjiang Scholar Distinguished Professor at the National School of Development, met with the guests in the office area of the IGHD’s PKU Science and Technology Park. Representatives of professors from IGHD also participated in the exchange.

Professor Liu first welcomed Dr. Wang and his delegation’s visit and introduced IGHD, including the organizational structure, personnel arrangements, and the institute's work and research. Director Tian Youzhong also presented the progress of IGHD’s research, particularly focusing on projects integrating the health industry with academia and research.

Dr. Wang, on behalf of the visiting team from Peking Union Medical College, expressed appreciation and support for IGHD’s work. He explained the research progress of Peking Union Medical College in relevant fields.

Both parties then engaged in in-depth discussions and academic exchanges on topics such as medical development, vaccine regulation, and distribution. They also discussed mechanisms to promote project cooperation and student training. Lastly, Dr. Wang summarized the discussions and shared deep insights into medical development and health economics.
