On September 9, 2023, the Institute for Global Health and Development (IGHD) at Peking University held a Faculty-Student Meeting and Development Strategy Seminar in Classroom 403 of the Peking University Science Park. Director Liu Guoen, Vice Presidents Zhang Haibin, Xu Ming, Qin Xuezheng, and all faculty and students at the institute attended the seminar.

 

Director Liu Guoen first shared his observations and insights from participating in the "2023 U.S.-China Health Track II Dialogue" and proposed the core principles and positioning of IGHD in promoting health in China and globally. He shared thoughts on the development history of the institute and its prospects.

 

Professor Zhang Haibin proposed several suggestions on how to expand IGHD’s influence and enhance international cooperation and exchanges. He emphasized the importance of remembering the original intention and striving to construct a world-class research institute. Professor Xu Ming highlighted the need to maintain an open mindset, integrate high-quality resources from both domestic and international sources, continuously enhance the institute's influence, and provide targeted recommendations for the institute's future scientific research management and development strategy. Professor Qin Xuezheng proposed focusing on the development strategy of the health industry and IGHD’s work in enhancing international cooperation and exchanges. Other faculty members also shared their thoughts and suggestions on the development strategy of the institute based on their work.

 

 During the business lunch, IGHD students presented flowers to the teachers and expressed their appreciation and gratitude. They look forward to studying and researching in the new semester, aiming to achieve even better academic results.
