Global Prevention and Control of Emerging Infectious Diseases

Over the past 2 decades, emerging disease epidemics, such as COVID-19, Ebola, Avian Flu, and the resurgence of traditional infectious diseases, have had devastating economic, social, and human development impacts. This demonstrates the urgency of improving public health system’s capabilities to prevent, detect, and respond to large infectious disease outbreaks, especially through cross-regional, cross-departmental, and cross-disciplinary cooperation.  The institute makes full use of modern information technology and big data to study the chain of transmission and population transmission dynamics of new and re-emerging infectious diseases, aims to identify cost-effective disease prevention and control strategies, informing important global health decisions worldwide.
