HAN Qide, Co-Chair of Advisory Council
HAN, Qide is Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician of World Academy of Sciences in developing countries, and a foreign fellow of National Academy of Medicine (United States). Currently serves as Honorary President of China Association for Science and Technology, Dean of Academy of Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies of Peking University, and Dean of Insitute of History of Sciece Techonology and Medicine Successively served as Executive Vice President of Peking University, Vice Chairman of Standing Committee of National People's Congress, President of the Western Returned Scholars Association-Chinese Overseas-Educated Scholars Association, Chairman of Chinese Association for Science and Technology, Chairman of Central Committees of Jiusan Society, and Vice Chairman of National Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Graduated from Shanghai First Medical College and served as a medical doctor at rural clinics. After received Master's Degree in Pathophysiology at Xi’an Medical College, served as a faculty member at Beijing Medical College ( Peking University Health Science Center). As a visiting scholar worked at Emory University Department of Pharmacology. His researches focus on molecular pharmacology and cardiovascular science, led to significant achievements in the field of α1-adrenoreceptor subtypes. He has brought interdisciplinary approach into research, identifying transportation of receptors and other single molecules in cells and its biological significance, and studying signaling mechanisms of adrenoceptors with systematic methodology.
