Chief Representative in China, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; Affiliated Professor of PKU-iGHD
Professor Zhi-Jie Zheng joined Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in October 2021 to serve as its Chief Representative to China, and Director, China Country Office. He previously served as K.C. Wong Chair Professor, Chair of the Department of Global Health, School of Public Health, and Associate Dean, Institute for Global Health and Development, Peking University. He completed his medical training at Shanghai Medical University and received MPH and PhD in Epidemiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA. Before joining PKU in 2017, he served chronologically as an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Preventive Medicine, University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington, Kentucky; as a Lead Epidemiologist in the Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention, US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Atlanta, Georgia, and as a Supervisory Medical Epidemiologist and Senior Program Director at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Bethesda, Maryland, USA; and as a University Endowed Chair Professor of Public Health and Medicine, and Dean of the School of Public Health, Shanghai Jiao Tong University in Shanghai, China. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and the American Heart Association (FAHA).
