Dr. Hu Yukun is a Research Professor at the Institute for Global Health and Development. She obtained her PhD from Clark University in Massachusetts, was a Fulbright Scholar at Columbia University (2013-2014) and an Adjunct Associate Professor at Griffith University in Australia. She is/was a Gender Specialist/Consultant for UNFPA, WHO, UNDP and UN Women. Her research interests include Globalization, Public Health and Population Health; Climate Change and Human Health; Women’s and Youth’s Sexual and Reproductive Health; Population, Environment and Sustainable Development; Lower Fertility and Population Aging, Women/Gender and Rural Development in China. Her books include Man and Nature in China: Gender, Natural Resources Management and the Chinese State in an Inner Mongolia Village (2021); From “Man Can Conquer Nature” to “Rebuild Beautiful Landscapes” (2017); Population, Health and Development: Global Perspectives and Local Experiences (2016); Gender and Ecological Civilization (2013) and Women’s Reproductive Health Promotion and Research (coauthored with four other scholars, 1998).
